Chatterton Project – On Hold!

Based on the latest Budget Calculations, Victoria’s Church Construction Project on Chatterton is between $1.2 - $1.9 million dollars OVER the budget of $4.7 million, which includes the loan of $912,000 from the Union. As a result, we are PLACING THE ENTIRE PROJECT ON HOLD. In the few months, prices for construction materials have skyrocketed, and the BP (Building Permit) process with Saanich has been extremely slow & difficult due to COVID-19 realities and other factors. Even if we had no shortage of funds, we still don’t have the Building Permit from Saanich.
The Church Board recently met and discussed other possible options in response to the situation. Could it be that God is allowing these difficulties so that other options may be considered? Or maybe God is testing us like He tested Israel in Deut 8:2?

pray, pray, & pray! Ask God for help & clarity of Vision. Organize,
facilitate, & promote personal & corporate prayer.
Option #1 – Place the project on hold and wait for further
guidance from the Lord (Perhaps construction/materials costs
will eventually come down). In the meantime, explore & research
all the options (1-6).
Option #2 – Build 1/3rd of the Chatterton Vision Only (without the
Sanctuary). Not recommended by the architect but is an option
that will make future development of phases more expensive. In
the meantime continue to pursue Chatterton project by
launching Fundraising Effort & raise $1.5 - $1.9 million dollars.
Option #3 - Consider the current offer from the Lakeview
Christian School to build Victoria’s new church on the campus of
Lakeview Christian School & become one with the school.
Consequently, rezone & sell Chatterton & have enough money to
build a new church without any loans.
Option #4 - Consider a much smaller vision/building on
Chatterton to fit the steep rise of construction costs.
Option #5 - Purchase an existing church in Victoria for half the
cash on hand, rezone/sell Chatterton.
Option #6 - Convert the house on Chatterton to a church, rezone
Chatterton and sell, while waiting for other visions, options, &
possibilities to ripen.
